Just when you thought it was safe to start reading space comics again BOOM Money Shot is back with a new arc and new thrills.
PLOT AND STORY
With a founding member on the outs, Chris seeks a replacement, and finds it in Dr. Yazaman Blanco, whose research might literally save the Earth, and whose hotness might melt the ice caps. But, when a mission to a ruined planet goes south, does she have what it takes to get the money shot?
Tim Seeley and Sarah Beattie waste no time in dropping us straight back into the weird and sexy world of our XXX-plorers. The writing pair have come up with a very interesting dynamic to the third arc of this series by introducing a new character and trying to acclimatise her to the group. Funny one liners and sarcasm layer the pages with the humorous tones we have become used to with this series and I’m glad to see its quick return.
Something new to this third arc is artist Caroline Leigh Layne taking over drawing duties from Rebekah Isaacs who left the series after drawing the first ten issues. To say these were some big shoes to fill is an understatement as Isaacs gave birth to the characters and the way we see them but Caroline Leigh Layne has more than adequately filled those boots with her first issue.
Maintaining a similar tone to keep continuity I liked the way Caroline has retained familiarity whilst still adding her own style to the characters. Two things which stood out for me in Caroline’s take on the characters was her emphasis on hair. Chris and Yazaman’s hair are larger than life and almost have a personality of their own which gives the characters a little something extra. The second observation is the emphasis on characters bums with shapes which stand out in their tight costumes.
There is no need to compare the two artists as both are different and both produce a fantastically sexy looking comic so Caroline Leigh Layne if you read this I want to say well done and welcome to the Money Shot family.
Kurt Michael Russell is on hand again to provide colours which also helps with the continuity and make a fluid transition from one artist to another.
Money Shot was one of my favourite comics in 2020 and it looks like 2021 will continue in the same vein. Funny stories, sexy encounters and an intriguing new dynamic to the group makes this a great issue to kick off the third arc.
