Review: Snow Angels #2 (Comixology Original)

Writer: Jeff Lemire
Artist: Jock
Letterer: Steve Wands
On Sale: 16/02/2021

Follow the rules or the snowman will get you as Snow Angels returns for another chilly adventure.

This latest issue is a real game of cat and mouse. We start out exactly where the devastating finale to issue #1 left us. Pa and the kids try their best to get away from the snowman but when things go wrong we are left on another worrying cliffhanger.

Jeff Lemire is slowly and quietly building a smart and suspenseful thriller here which I genuinely can’t predict what’s going to happen next. The story moves at a steady pace with a fast and frantic push on the final few pages and make you come back for the next issue.

I am a huge admirer of Jock and this series once again delivers his unique style and brilliance. Very reminiscent to his Green Arrow Year One series but trading the green forests for white, snow covered wasteland.

I find the lack of colour gives this book so much realism and identity. This is a family who live in an ice trench so I love the use of white and black with streaks of blue and red to give a bold definition when needed.

As a Comixology original I don’t see this series getting the social chatter some of the bigger brands get but I urge people to check this out all the time. Free to Amazon Prime members and a genuinely intriguing comic by two of comics royalty in Jeff Lemire and Jock. Snow Angels should be on everyone’s pull list.

I read this via Prime Reading on Comixology and received no incentive to review this comic. All artwork belongs to the Comixology and the respective owners,
