Has the hellspawn finally met his match? Spawn finds himself backed into a corner with nowhere to go.

Spawn and Overt Kill travel to a mysterious island to face off against a powerful foe! Unbeknownst to them….he was waiting.

Todd Mcfarlane continues to bring us wild, crazy adventures with over the top characters. This issue in particular showcases the action and brutality Spawn brings to the page.

Spawn has superhuman powers but when confronted with other hellspawn it puts everything on a level playing field. This is when his human side comes out and his compassion for protecting earth is what drives him and can make the difference.

Spawn has always been a very visual comic and this issue is no different. Incredibly detailed artwork from Carlo Barberi with bold, solid colours from Jay David Ramos.

The first few pages really stand out for me in this issue as we see a battle with Monolith. A huge beast of a character which dwarfs Spawn in strength and stature. These pages are action packed with thunderous fight scenes and really details the powers the Hellspawn have.

Tom Orzechowski provides a great variety in letters this issue creating unique, different text for each of the different characters.

I have dropped in and out of Spawn over the years but the last 6 months have been incredibly strong for Spawn and issue #314 continues that trend. Big action packed pages, intimidating characters and an ominous future for Earth makes this a good issue with a promising future.

I read this via an advance preview copy issued by image comics and received no incentive to review this comic.
